Green Drinks: Seeds of Change - The Edible Streets Story
Join this inspiring presentation by Zane Crofts - Founder of Edible Streets. Hear how Zane set up a seed exchange, a greenhouse, and a veggie garden for community use, building a space for biodiversity and sustainable gardening. Edible Streets fosters beautiful landscapes and connected communities, with the goal of expanding across New Zealand, just as local food pantries have done.
Date: Thursday 19th December 2024.
Time: 6 to 8pm. Talk begins at 6.30pm.
Location: Cascade Bar and Courtyard (89 Lichfield Street, Central City).
Cost: FREE.
Zane will share his journey that began with a food sovereignty hui in Oxford, where he first discovered the impact of our food systems on communities and ecology. Inspired by projects like the Gangsta Gardener in Los Angeles and Food is Free Laneway in Australia, Zane took action in his community of Wainoni by creating Edible Streets. This initiative transforms streetsides into community gardens, promoting urban biodiversity and offering fresh, locally grown food to everyone.
