Childhood immunisation is one of the most effective, and
cost-effective, medical interventions to prevent disease. The
Ministry of Health target is for 90% of two-year-olds to be fully
immunised by July 2011, and 95% by July 2012.
Canterbury District Health Board has not reached the overall
targets to date. In the year ending in June 2012, 92% of
Canterbury two-year olds were fully immunised. The
immunisation rate for Maori two-year-olds in Canterbury is 93% and
95% for Pacific two-year-olds.
