Nominations are open for Richmond Community Garden Board of Trustees

The Richmond Community Garden Trust Board are seeking a passionate individual to join and help steer the future of the Richmond Community Garden and Riverlution. This dedicated team sets the strategic direction of our garden and various projects and represents our community’s interests locally and beyond. They look forward to welcoming a new, passionate member to our team!

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  1. Commitment: A willingness to dedicate time and energy to support the goals of Richmond Community Garden and Riverlution.
  2. Values: A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our Statement of Intent - He Panui Whāinga.
  3. Responsibility: Adherence to the responsibilities outlined in our Board Charter.
  4. Leadership: Experience in leadership, strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  5. Teamwork: The ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with a diverse group of people.

What You Need to Know

They have one spot available on the Board for a new member.

Any member of our garden community is welcome to nominate themselves or another community member. Preference will be given to someone connected to the area and committed to participating in the garden roster.

Nominations are open until Saturday 30th November 2024.

Voting will occur at the next board meeting. The elected member will be announced on our newsletter, website, and social media.

Expectations for Board Members

This is a volunteer position and members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and complete assigned action items.

  • Ongoing Communication: Stay in regular contact with other Board members and our Operations Manager.
  • Community Engagement: Active involvement and regular communication with the community, advocating for the garden's mission.
  • Advocacy: Help promote the Richmond Community Garden and the Riverlution movement locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Financial Understanding: They are looking for a candidate who can assist with Tier 4 reporting and other financial matters, rather than handling day-to-day spending.
