Time for Toot for Tucker campaign
It’s that time of the year for big hearted locals to help those less fortunate in our community. North Canterbury food banks are looking forward to receiving a much-needed boost from Toot for Tucker on Tuesday 3rd December 2024 - from 6 to 7pm.
You can drop off your donations at:
- Kaiapoi Community Services;
- Oxford Pantry;
- Hurunui District Council in Amberley;
- Amberley Library;
- Amberley or Leithfield Schools;
- Salvation Army in Rangiora; or
- Property Brokers Rangiora.
People are asked to use their own bags or boxes, and if their bags or boxes are missed then contact Toot for Tucker to arrange collection (0274 342 486 or bev[at]pb.co.nz).
You could be creative with your giving and perhaps include some Christmas treats or small gifts for children.
This annual appeal has become something of a ritual now, but one everyone looks forward to for different reasons.
It reminds us that Christmas is not far away, and more importantly, it's our chance to give those less fortunate and opportunity to share what they have with others.
Every year, we hear stories about how much the food is needed and this year is no different, with mental health and stress being the main talking points. Please don’t be too proud to ask for help from your local food bank: this is why we do what we do.
Thinking that food banks are only for beneficiaries or for people who don’t know how to budget is wrong. The reality is that no matter how hard you try to budget, there is simply not enough money to make ends meet and the one thing that can be reduced is the buying of food.
All the food donated stays local: everything collected on the night will stay in North Canterbury.
Listen out for the toots on Tuesday 3rd December between 6pm and 7pm. We will be making a lot of noise.
