ACC funded Trauma Informed Yoga Group Therapy Classes
ACC-approved practitioners are running nine-week Trauma Informed yoga courses. In-person classes will run at Risingholme Hall (99 Hawford Road, Opawa) and online classes are also available. There will be a maximum of 15 participants per group.
Four different courses available:
- Level 1 Somatic Yoga - focuses on slow, conscious movement, breath awareness, and reconnecting with the body;
- Level 2 Somatic Yoga - for those who have completed Level 1 or who already have previous yoga experience;
- Supportive Movement Yoga - includes chair based movement, grounding practices, breathwork, and gentle yoga; and
- Yoga Nidra - a deep relaxation style.
No previous yoga experience is necessary. People of all fitness levels and genders are welcome!
These courses are fully funded by ACC and are available for people who have:
- an ‘accepted’ ACC 'sensitive claim' due to experiencing past sexual trauma; or
- an ‘accepted mental injury' from an ACC physical injury claim.
You will also learn various emotional regulation techniques at each class - to further support daily life coping skills.
