2025 Anzac Day Services in the Selwyn District

Selwyn District Council media release: 7th April 2025

Join your local Anzac Day commemoration service on Friday 25 April and remember the sacrifices of our servicemen and women. Services are organised by local Returned Services Associations and local Community Groups.

  • Burnham: 6am Dawn Parade at Army Camp gates. Service and wreath laying ceremony.
  • Darfield: 8.45am at District War Memorial. Wreath laying ceremony followed by service at Trinity Church.
  • Dunsandel: 8.30am at District War Memorial (corner Leeston-Dunsandel Road and Railway Road) for a wreath laying ceremony.
  • Glenroy: 7am meet at Glenroy Monument (corner of Downs Road and State Highway 77). Service starts at 7.30am.
  • Glentunnel: 9.30am Meet outside Glentunnel School. Followed by service at the Glentunnel Community Centre carpark.
  • Hororata: 11am at the Hororata Monument. Wreath laying ceremony at District War Memorial.
  • Kirwee: Noon for Inaugural Service at Anzac Lane (by water shed) in Kirwee Recreation Reserve. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony.
  • Kowai: Service follows on from conclusion of Springfield’s ceremony (around midday).
  • Leeston: 9am at Ellesmere Public Cemetery (323 Feredays Road, Leeston).
  • Leeston: 10.30am at Leeston Rugby Pavilion. Service followed by parade to cenotaph and wreath laying ceremony
  • Lincoln: 2pm at Lincoln Event Centre. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony.
  • Mead: 9am at Mead Hall Memorial gates. Wreath laying ceremony.
  • Prebbleton: 9am at District War Memorial. Wreath laying ceremony.
  • Rolleston: 11am Service at Town Square - behind Te Ara Ātea. Parade attendees meet near Scout den. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony.
  • Sheffield-Waddington: 8am at Sheffield Cenotaph. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony.
  • Springfield: 11am at Tawera Memorial Hall. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony at District War Memorial.
  • Springston: 10.30am at Springston Hall. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony at District War Memorial.
  • Tai Tapu: 8.45am meet at Tai Tapu School. Raise flag amd march to Cenotaph. 9am Service and wreath laying then march back to school.
  • West Melton: 9.45am at West Melton War Memorial in school grounds. Service followed by wreath laying ceremony.
