Corm Propagation Workshop for Jerusalem Artichokes and Rhubarb
Join Edible Streets in Ōtautahi Christchurch for a FREE hands-on workshop followed by a working bee focused on harvesting, propagating, and relocating productive perennial crops. No experience needed — just come ready to learn and get hands-on. All skill levels welcome.
Date: Sunday 21st June 2026.
Time: 10am to 2pm (workshop and working bee).
Location: Climate Action Campus (35 Cowlishaw Street, Avonside).
Cost: FREE.
This workshop will teach you how to propagate and manage perennial food crops including:
- How corm propagation works in plants like Jerusalem artichokes;
- How to divide, harvest, and replant productive root systems;
- Understanding rhizomes, tubers, and perennial food cycles; and
- How to maintain ongoing food production through plant division.
The working bee will include harvesting Jerusalem artichokes.
