Positive Parenting Series in Selwyn District
Parenting is tough, but you don't have to do it on your own! These fun, interactive workshops are full of insights and strategies that really work for getting the best out of young people. Thes sessions leverage research and experience from youth workers and it's rare to find a parenting series as good as this!
The sessions will run at the Selwyn Youth Hub (at the Rolleston Community Centre) from 7 to 9pm on the following dates:
- Tuesday 25th February 2025: How to parent in a strengths-Based way by recognising and celebrating strengths and using them as a basis for achieving goals.
- Tuesday 4th March 2025: Respectful Relationships, including what a respectful relationship looks like and how to foster respect at home.
- Tuesday 11th March 2025: Building Ownership and Empowerment, including how to advocate for and with your kids, as well as how to get them to advocate for themselves and participate in decision-making at home and in their own lives.
Come along to all three if you can! The interactive sessions are full of excellent information, tips, and ideas on ways to have great relationships and open communication with your kids. You will also get to connect, brainstorm and share ideas with other parents in similar boats.
These workshops are being partially funded by a philanthropic organisation who are focused on using their funds to help young people in Canterbury to thrive. So please pay what you can afford, and they will cover the rest. Don't let cost hold you back from coming along.
