Get crafty with CWEA this winter
Join CWEA in their bright and cosy space for craft workshops - as the weather gets cold outside and your focus switches to indoor activities.
All workshops are held at Canterbury WEA (59 Gloucester Street, Central City).
Sewing Basics: Make and embroider fingerless gloves
Make a fingerless glove using recycled wool and merino fabrics which will be the base for learning basic embroidery stitches. Embroidery is an excellent way to embellish clothing and cover repairs so come along and learn some basics for your future projects with Ruth Vargas.
Date: Saturday 2nd August 2025.
Time: 1.30 to 4.30pm.
Cost: $26 per person or $22 for Community Service Card (CSC) holders. Materials supplied.

Origami for fun
Learn how to make easy origami animals using new and recycled materials with Kazuko Iwai.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki memorial day is held in the first week of August and we will make cranes that can be left at the Canterbury WEA to wish for world peace.
Date: Saturday 2nd August 2025.
Time: 10am to 12.30pm.
Cost: $18 per person or $15 for Community Service Card (CSC) holders.
Please bring craft scissors if you have some and come prepared to have fun and lots of laughs.
This class is suitable for adults and curious kids from six years and up but younger ones may need active help from a parent or caregiver. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
