Volunteers needed for study on plant protein and heart health for Maori
Volunteers are need for a Lincoln University study investigating the effects of hemp protein on blood pressure and cardiovascular health.
The study is looking for participants who whakapapa Māori aged 18 years + with at least with one of the following:
- High cholesterol;
- A waist measurement over 102cm for males or over 89cm for females;
- Elevated blood sugar levels;
- Elevated blood pressure; or
- A BMI over 25.
Your participation will involve:
- consuming a hemp protein supplement 5 days out of 7 for sixteen weeks - provided;
- 3 FREE health checks over 4 months - each lasting approximately 60 minutes;
- completing 7-day physical activity diary;
- completing a 3-day food diary; and
- wearing a blood pressure monitor for one day.
You will receive in depth information on how well your arteries are working and see a potential improvement to your cardiovascular health.
You can choose to withdraw at any point during the study and have any information you have provided removed from the study data.
