Volunteers needed for study on mānuka honey and digestive health
A research team from the University of Otago, Christchurch is looking for people with indigestion and other digestive symptoms to participate in a 10-week research study investigating the digestive health effects of consuming mānuka honey.
You may be eligible if you have any of the following symptoms:
- pain or burning in the stomach, bloating, excessive burping, nausea, or feeling sick during and after meals;
- an early feeling of fullness when eating; or
- stomach pain that can occur independently of meals or be alleviated by eating.
You will receive a $20 supermarket voucher after the first study visit and a $50 supermarket voucher after each of the next four study visits ($220 in total) in recognition of the actual or reasonable costs associated with participating in this study (such as parking or travel costs).
The SOOTHE research team would live to hear from you if you experience any of the symptoms listed above, are aged 18 to 70 years, do not have uncontrolled diabetes or cardiovascular disease, can eat mānuka honey, and are not pregnant or lactating.
