Parent Workshop: Regulating the Storm - Helping tweens and teens build resilience
Being a tween or teen isn’t easy, and neither is it easy being their parent sometimes! There are growing pressures, emotions are all over the place, and there are many tricky moments to navigate. It can be hard to know when to step in, when to step back and what will actually help.
In this practical and reassuring two-hour workshop, you’ll explore:
- What’s going on in the adolescent brain and why stress and big emotions can make it harder for young people to manage their reactions.
- Simple ways to help everyone stay calmer, keep communication open and work through problems together.
- Ways to support your child through challenges, setbacks and mistakes while building their confidence, coping skills and independence.
Resilience isn’t something kids either have or don’t have. It grows over time, and your calm, supportive presence can make a real difference.
Date: Thursday 15th October 2026.
Time: 7 to 9pm.
Location: The Lounge at the Rolleston Community Centre (94 Rolleston Drive, Rolleston).
