About the presenter, Dr Lisa Marriott
Dr Marriott is a much sought-after media commentator and researcher on tax welfare and justice. She is a frequent contributor on tax issues to "The Conversation". She is currently undertaking a major research project on 'Imagining Te Tiriti and Tax Justice', and was awarded a Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden grant for her work on tax and welfare crime in Aotearoa New Zealand.
She is a Chartered Accountant and has previously worked in industry as a Financial Controller and Accountant in the United Kingdom; and in the New Zealand public sector. For the past 15 years, she has worked in academia. As well as her teaching and research role at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, she is also Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria.
Lisa’s work is interdisciplinary, covering disciplines including sociology, political science and criminology. Her research interests include taxation, social justice and inequality. Dr Marriott will be live on-line and interacting with us from Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington.
