ASB Extra Care Specialist Support team: Helping those impacted by domestic violence
The ASB Extra Care Specialist Support team can help support people who have been impacted by domestic violence with their financial safety and wellbeing. A pathway is available for community agencies to refer clients to the team directly.
The team can help clients with:
- opening a new bank account in their name;
- assisting with issues meeting identification and address verification requirements;
- keeping their banking information safe and secure;
- assisting with changing passwords and PINs;
- establishing communication preferences;
- closing join accounts safely and securely;
- discussing options for managing debt;
- referral to the ASB Financial Assistance team and other specialists in the bank; and
- referral to other external support services that can help.
Contact the ASB Extra Care Specialist Support team - with your client's consent - providing their name and preferred contact method (extracare[at]asb.co.nz). If the client is an ASB customer, ask them if they're comfortable sharing their account number with the team - as this will help provide assistance sooner.
If your client needs urgent assistance, then call 0800 700 720 (Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm).
