Department of Conservation launches an app
The ‘Imagine’ app is an initiative from the Department of Conservation in response to the Christchurch city earthquake rebuild.
‘Imagine’ is a delightful slice of the natural environment – an interactive nature experience amid the rubble, noise and construction that have become the new ‘normal’ for Christchurch. This project seeks to encourage consideration of nature and conservation as we rebuild our city, and creates a vision where nature is part of the fabric and integrity of our homes, schools, communities and public and urban spaces; for our health, wellbeing, recreation and pleasure, and for the benefit of the environment we live in.
The ‘Imagine’ app will be launched alongside Regan Gentry's work of public art opposite C1 Espresso on High Street. 'Woods from the Trees' is a stand of 8m tall Rimu trees, constructed from a demolished Christchurch home. Partnering on this project, the Department of Conservation are connecting and supporting nature related projects and visions, including a transitional Visitor Centre and urban oasis planned for the corner of Cashel and High Streets.
