Become a mental health support worker with the Deacon Training Academy
The Deacon Training Academy is offering a mental health support worker training programme from July 2024. This Christchurch-based one-year course will train you to support clients with mental health needs to live well within their own communities. Graduates are awarded the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (Mental Health and Addiction Support).
You will help them to access health care and to navgiate the system. You will also assist to reduce the barriers and stigma related to mental health that often exists. The Deacon Training Academy will train you how to understand and support cultural compatibility within communities, including spiritual support if requested.
Numbers for this course are strictly limited and enrolments are now open. You must be at least 20 years old and eligible to study as a domestic student.
