FREE Art as Therapy sessions for Christchurch MSM
Burnett Foundation Aotearoa - Te Toka are hosting FREE Art as Therapy sessions for MSM! These sessions will run every Monday evening (5.30 to 7.30pm) starting on 20th July 2026.
There is also only 8 slots per session so if you sign up and don't come then someone else misses out. It will be a first in first served sort of basis.

- Session 1 (20th July): “Switch off scribbling” art-as-therapy invitations to regulate, soften emotions and switch off through neurographic drawing and somatic scribbling.
Materials will include paper, pens, pencils, and other drawing materials.
- Session 2 (27th July): “Anti-doomscroll” zine making using collage with a focus around activities that are alternatives to using your phone or self care. A zine is a mini handmade magazine.
Materials will include magazines, paper, pens, and glue.
- Session 3 (3rd August): "I feel..." abstract collage explorations around emotions and self using colours, textures and shapes to describe a current feeling, such as “I feel pointy,” or “I feel pink.”
Materials will include paper, magazines, glue, and paints.
- Session 4 (10th August): “What we invite in and what to let go” boundary explorations and self-reflection, tracing around our own hands, drawing and writing what we want to invite into our lives and what we are ready to release.
Materials will include paper, pens, pencils, paint, and brushes.
- Session 5 (17th August): "Read between the lines” various poetic invitations including blackout poetry to deconstruct and rebuild new poems from existing text to find our own voices.
Materials will include found text, pens, pencils, and paper.
- Session 6 (24th August): "Myself in nature" using natural materials to explore your relationship with nature, and creating sculptural environments to feel nurtured and reconnected to the earth.
Materials will include sticks, flowers, leaves, driftwood, and stones.
