ChCh launch of Perceptions of Asia 2026 Report
Please join the Asia New Zealand Foundation | Te Whītau Tūhono for the official Christchurch launch of their 2026 New Zealanders’ Perceptions of Asia and Asian Peoples report. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions, network with others and learn from informed experts on Asia and New Zealand.

Now in its 29th year, the annual Perceptions of Asia survey tracks New Zealanders’ awareness, knowledge and interest in Asia, offering important insights into how views are shifting amid a changing regional and global environment.
The launch will include an overview of the report’s key findings by Dr Julia Macdonald (the Foundation's director of research), followed by a panel discussion faciliated by Dr James To.
Highlights of the report launch and discussion will be:
- Amid growing global disorder, which countries do New Zealanders view as our closest friends and biggest threats?
- How are New Zealanders’ travel patterns mirroring changing perceptions?
- From misinformation to cyberattacks and climate change, what global issues are New Zealanders most worried about?
