Summer is the time to shape the new Selwyn edition of Monopoly.
The Selwyn Youth Council is excited to be leading the fundraising initiative to create a Selwyn-edition Monopoly board celebrating the uniqueness of Selwyn townships.
The Youth Council will be at events over the summer to gather ideas of what locations to include on the board. The board will feature local landmarks, favourite places, and unique places across Selwyn.
A key part of the project is to involve the whole community in shaping the board and contribute ideas about what makes Selwyn special and what could be included on the board.
Youth Council member Bella Thompson said, "This board is all about celebrating Selwyn and giving our community a chance to have their say. We want everyone, from tamariki to rangatahi and their wider whānau, to share their ideas on what makes our towns special. It’s a fun, creative way to showcase our district while fundraising to support future youth projects."
The Selwyn edition board will be used as a fundraiser to raise funds for youth and community initiatives across the district.
The idea has been gaining a great reception, with almost 200 responses submitted already at Selwyn youth events over the past two weekends.
