Oral health and Dementia
There is now thought to be a link between dental health and brain health. The human mouth is home to about 700 species of bacteria, including those that cause gum disease.
Recent analysis suggests that the bacteria that cause gum disease are also associated with some dementias specially Alzheimer’s Disease and Vascular Dementia. This evidence suggests that regular dental visits are not just important for oral health but for brain health too.
Come and hear from Specialist Public Health Dentist Victoria McKelvey about how we can use this link to maximise our brain health.

Location: Braintree Wellness Centre (70 Langdons Road, Papanui). You can also join online via Zoom (Meeting ID: 898 6596 4317, Passcode: 902 292).
