New CAB spotlight report on respecting and protecting migrant workers
This report was released in July 2026 and analyses approximately 1000 enquiries by migrants to the Citizens Advice Bureau which were identified as potential experiences of exploitation received between May 2024 to 2026.
These enquiries show that migrant exploitation is occurring across multiple industries, occupations, and regions, and that exploitative practices are experienced in various forms and severity.
This report highlights the serious consequences for migrants experiencing exploitation and their families. CAB enquiries show that exploitation is frequently compounded by complex immigration processes and delays.
The report identifies actionable insights asking for coordinated system change and instigation of support so that migrants can work in safety and dignity, and so decision-makers, service providers, and communities can act with greater confidence and urgency.
