Christchurch Alcohol Action Plan 2022 Community Forum

Over 50 people gathered together in Spark Place at Tūranga on 25th October 2022 for the Christchurch Alcohol Action Plan (CAAP) 2022 Community Forum. The Christchurch Alcohol Action Plan (CAAP) was developed in response to community concern about alcohol-related harm. It provides a collective vision, strategies and actions aimed at achieving a sustained reduction in alcohol-related harm. Key partners include Christchurch City Council, NZ Police and Te Whatu Ora – Waitaha Canterbury.

The Forum was an excellent opportunity to gather and discuss how move forward towards the goal of a “safe, vibrant, healthy Christchurch free from alcohol-related harm” with speakers highlighted issues and opportunities for action ahead. Each presentation was recorded. See below for the recordings and presentations.

The final session of the day was a discussion on where to next for the CAAP. The consensus in the room is that people would like to meet more frequently to network and hear from each other on their work to reduce alcohol-related harm. Bi-monthly meetings has been suggested - possibly organised around a theme - and either in person or online. The CAAP Working Group will be working on how to proceed with this for 2023.
