Rose Pruning
Date: Saturday 10th June 2023. Rain day is Sunday 11th June.
Time: 10am to noon.
Location: Abberley Park Rose Garden (15 Abberley Crescent, St Albans).
Cost: $44 for CHS members. $55 for non-members.
This workshop with Michael Brown will cover:
- Identifying type of rose (hybrid T, floribunda, climbing, miniature, bush);
- Tools, equipment and hygiene;
- Pruning technique;
- Aftercare including removing dead leaves and mulching; and
- Pests and disease prevention.

Hardwood Propagation
Participants will learn about taking hardwood cuttings during the winter dormant season. You will learn which plants can be successfully propagated at this time of year (such as rose, rhododendron, fig), observe demonstrations and then get your hands dirty trying out the practical technique required. This is a great opportunity to take home new material to expand your plant collection.
Date: Saturday 17th June 2023. Rain day is Sunday 18th June.
Time: 1 to 3pm.
Location: Richmond Community Garden (46A Vogel Street, Richmond).
Cost: $44 for CHS members. $55 for non-members.

Winter Fruit Tree Workshops
Not sure where to begin with pruning your fruit trees? Come and find out how to train a young tree or tame a neglected tree to ensure itʼs longevity and increase production.
Establishing new fruit trees or a home orchard? Learn the best locations and varieties for Canterbury conditions.
Dates:
- Stonefruit Pruning (Saturday 17th June 2023);
- Establishing Fruit Trees (Saturday 22nd July 2023); and
- Pipfruit Pruning (Saturday 19th August 2023).
Time: 9am to noon.
Location: Richmond Community Garden’s Riverlution Eco Hub (46A Vogel Street, Richmond).
Cost: $65 per workshop for CHS members. $78 per workshop for non-members.
