Join CWEA in their bright and cosy space for craft workshops - as the weather gets cold outside and your focus switches to indoor activities.
All workshops are held at Canterbury WEA (59 Gloucester Street, Central City).
Sewing basics: Fingerless gloves
Get ready for the cooler months with your own custom-made short mittens - no knitting required. You will use repurposed merino, fleece and stretch fabrics to make a pattern to fit yourself or others and spend the afternoon putting your gloves together with extra adornment as you see fit.
Date: Saturday 27th May 2023.
Time: 1 to 4.30pm.
Cost: $31 per person or $23 for Community Service Card (CSC) holders.
This workshop with Ruth Targas (aka the Sewing Fairy) is suitable for any age and ability - using both hand and machine stitching. Come along and learn a new skill or build on the ones you have.
Bring your sewing machine if you have one (not compulsory). A selection of materials will be provided but feel free to bring an item to upcycle or some fabric if you wish.

Sashiko: Beginners Japanese Embroidery
Sashiko is a form of decorative stitching from Japan that started out as a way of reinforcing points of wear on garments - making the piece ultimately stronger and warmer.
No embroidery experience required as the designs are based around geometric patterns using a running stitch.
Date: Thursday 1st June 2023.
Time: 6.30 to 8pm.
Cost: $54 per person or $40 for Community Service Card (CSC) holders.
