Winter 2020 courses at the Women's Centre

he Women's Centre courses will provide with a safe space in which to explore anger, self-care, boundaries, authenticity, intuitive living, and creativity expression.

Course registration is essential. Minimum numbers apply so early is encouraged to avoid disappointment. Drop into the Centre to enrol (Unit 3, 242 Ferry Road) - open Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm.

You need to enrol at least a week before the date the course begins.

You can now apply to access the Course Participation Allowance if you are a WINZ client - to cover your course fees. Pick up a form from The Women's Centre.

Creative Soul: reimagining the self through arts therapy

Use creative methods to explore soulful, mythic, imaginary and symbolic aspects of self with Arijana Ruznic-Beyer. Develop a deepening awareness of who we are.

  • Uncover layers of self through creativity;
  • Explore subtle meanings embedded in dreams;
  • Uncover the real you from beneath layers of conditioning; and
  • Be more present to the magical elements of the ordinary.

Note: This is an Arts Therapy based group - not a therapy session.

Dates: Tuesdays from 18th August to 22nd September 2020 (6 sessions).
Time: 6.30 to 8.30pm.
Cost: $50 waged, $30 low/unwaged.

Making Emotions Meaningful

This course with Nilguen Kulpe helps identify underlying emotions and needs which can express themselves as anger.

  • Explore what triggers anger;
  • Uncover unexpressed emotions;
  • Develop safe management strategies; and
  • Learn how to express emotions to find inner strength, a strong voice, and peace within.

This course involves group work, discussion, movement and breathing techniques.

Dates: Thursdays from 23rd July to 13th August 2020 (4 sessions).
Time: 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Cost: $45 waged, $30 low/unwaged.

Cultivating Peace through Mindfulness, Meditation and Gratitude

Are you wanting to create a better life journey? This workshop with Lisa Mills is designed to focus on your self care, and offer techniques and resources.

  • Share stories and experiences;
  • Conscious breathing;
  • Boundaries and practices to take home; and
  • Self care and relaxation techniques.

This course involves group work, discussion, and relaxation techniques.

Dates: Tuesdays from 4th to 25th August 2020 (4 sessions).
Time: 10.30am to noon.
Cost: $45 waged, $30 low/unwaged.
