Strawberry Tea 2025: Bringing climate change to the kitchen table
The Canterbury Women's Club (CWC) cordially invites you to an enriching evening of talks and discussions on Bringing Climate Change to the Kitchen Table.
Date: Friday 21st February 2025.
Time: 5 to 7pm.
Location: Multi-Cultural Recreation and Community Centre (455 Hagley Avenue, Central City).
Cost: $20 for Canterbury Women's Club members, and $25 for others.
Kate Sheppard and her contemporaries engaged in critical conversations around their kitchen tables during the campaign for Women’s Suffrage, so this event will focus on the pressing issues of Climate Change in Canterbury and the world.
They are pleased to welcome esteemed guest speakers: the Honourable Dr. Megan Woods and former Christchurch Mayor Vicki Buck. The Club believes the insights shared by the distinguished speakers will inspire and motivate all those present. There may also be an opportunity for some to reflect on the potential to refine their professional aspirations.
They hope to see some articulate young people in attendance, as they are emerging as the future leaders of climate action in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Canterbury Women's Club has traditionally marked the beginning of each year with the "Strawberry Tea" event since it was established in 1913.
