Sign the petition for a Commissioner or Minister for family carers
The NZ Carers Alliance is calling for a formal home in government for family, whānau, and aiga carers. They have tried for many years with successive governments to get better outcomes for carers in areas such as fair payment, a good respite system, recognition in emerging funding models, and improvements across health, disability, social services, and supports for mental health and older people.
There has been progress but it's not enough and it's not happening fast enough.
Carers will always be an afterthought without a Minister or Commissioner of their own.
Please sign the petition asking for the establishment of a Minister or Commissioner for family carers, plus recognition and legislative protection for carers' physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
The petition closes at midnight on Tuesday 18th July 2023.
