Come along to the Kakaha Park opening event
Gather your friends and whānau and celebrate the opening of a new recreational space in Prebbleton! This is FREE drop-in community event.
Date: Sunday 11th June 2023.
Time: 10am to noon.
Location: Kakaha Park (corner of Leadley and Birchs Roads, Prebbleton).
Te Taumata o Ngāi Tūāhuriri will lead the whakawatea | blessing at 10am. Selwyn Mayor Sam Broughton will officially open Kakaha Park at 10.15am.
Festivities will kick off just before 10.30am including:
- Selwyn Sports Trust iBike instructors providing tips and tricks on cycle safety. Bring your bikes along and try out the Snake Track!
- Fun for your furry friends over at the new dog park!
- Check out and sit in the passenger seat of a grader and excavator which was used by HEB Construction in the construction of Kakaha Park.
- Getting some tips and tricks from Prebbleton Football Club.
There will also food and drink options available (eftpos and cash).
Clothes by Portia, Best Buddies K9 Boxes and Cocomutt Icecream will also have some fabulous items available for purchase to treat your fluffy mate (eftpos and cash).
Note: The blessing and official opening will go ahead rain or shine. However some activities may not be able to go ahead if weather is inclement.
