Understory tuatoru wrapping up

Wednesday, November 16, 2022   Posted in: Signatory Notice Board By: Administrator With tags: collaboration, workplace, Community Groups

The Green Lab has made the decision to wrap up understorey/ tuatoru before Christmas. The official last open day will be Friday 2nd December 2022. They will likely have some sort of gathering to mark the occasion!

The Green Lab have had a brilliant run over the last 18 months with this project and their last six at The Welder have been particularly good - with over 50 community events and gatherings during this period. They would like to extend thanks to all those who have made the project possible, and who have joined their community during this period.

Lately, weekly use and membership numbers have been wildly inconsistent and The Green Lab are already noticing the usual drop off as summer approaches. With this in mind they are taking a pause on the understorey project to allow time to reflect on the project's purpose. They will be assessing the project data, and determining whether to look for project funding and a more permanent home for the initiative in the new year.

Request for feedback on understorey

If understorey is of value to you and you would continue to use a variation of the space it in future, please let The Green Lab know! If you have feedback or suggestions that would make a future understorey more useable for you - please also send those through. This feedback will help determine next steps and approach potential funders.

If you have any questions or would like to talk more about understorey's future, please get in touch (info[at]
