Community education seminar from Dementia Canterbury

Come along to a community education seminar from Dementia Canterbury. These are FREE talks and everyone is welcome! Bookings are essential for these popular sessions as spaces are limited.

Note: Seminars will only take place under COVID-19 Alert Level One. They will be cancelled at any other Alert Level.

Wandering and Dementia

Wandering refers to a variety of behaviours that may result in a person living with dementia becoming lost.

Sharyn Creighton is a registered Occupational Therapist from Older Persons Mental Health Service. She will talk about this behaviour to help us better understand it, as well as provide some strategies and different ways of thinking about it.

Linda Rutland from WanderSearch will also provide information on the Wanda Trak tracking system used by Land Search and Rescue and the NZ Police to search for people who regularly “wander” from their place of residence.

There will be time for questions.

Time: 7 to 8.30pm.
Location: Dementia Canterbury (Unit 3, 49 Sir William Pickering Drive, Burnside) - off Roydvale Avenue and behind Cafe 43 Degrees. Parking is available on-site.
