Loburn Lea sewer construction to begin
Waimakariri District Council media release: 1st March 2021
Council is planning ahead and improving the quality of infrastructure for our residents as our district continues to grow and develop.
This week construction will commence on a new sewer pipeline to connect the Loburn Lea Sewer Scheme to the Eastern District Sewer Scheme, via Rangiora.
The Loburn Lea Wastewater System has been approved to receive Government stimulus funding, and an upgrade is required to achieve resource consent compliance, financial sustainability for ratepayers and capacity for growth within our district.
The upgrade will see improved sewer infrastructure on Cones Road, Dixons Road, Adian Way and Millton Ave, a new pumping station near the Ashley Bridge, and pipework extending across the bridge itself.
There will be speed reductions and disruptions with traffic management in the area in order to carry out these improvements. In particular, delays on Cones Road and the Ashley Bridge.
For those along the alignment of the sewer pipeline, there will be an opportunity to connect to the new sewer scheme, we will be in contact with those properties as the project progresses.
The construction will be moving north towards Dixons Road and Adian Way. A separate construction crew are planned to undertake the construction of the pumping station outside Loburn Lea and it is expected that the work will be complete before March 2022.
We thank residents for their patience and understanding while we undertake this work.
