Eldernet shines light on digital exclusion

Eldernet’s popular Gazette site has turned its attention to topics including:

• Sacha Green told Eldernet just how big the problem of digital inclusion is and how we all can help to ensure no one gets left behind in the online rush. Sacha is the author of the Citizens Advice Bureau report on digital exclusion.
• Chef Terence Austin is turning his skills to ensuring older people get great food and the variety they deserve. He was prompted to leave the hospitality industry after a visit to his grandfather in a rest home.
• Vicky Graham and her dogs Hunter and Piers are part of Canine Friends - an organisation that has been arranging for dogs to visit rest homes for 30 years. Vicky told Eldernet why she finds the visits so rewarding, and what makes a good therapy dog.
• October marked the first birthday of Eldernet’s sibling site www.retirementvillages.co.nz.
  Celebrations included cake and birthday cards for those who were early adopters of the new site.
