Blueprint for the Future of NZ Disability Sport and Recreation Sector
Sport NZ initiated a review: the ‘Blueprint for the Future of the NZ Disability Sport and Recreation Sector' in early 2018.
Sport NZ have released the findings of this Disability Review - led by Lumin - along with a supporting ‘Spotlight on Disability’ based on information gathered through our nationwide Active NZ Survey 2017.
The following documents from the review are now available on the Sport NZ website:
- Disability Review – Summary Report and Recommendations PDF (prepared by Lumin)
- Disability Review – Background Report PDF (prepared by Lumin)
- Active NZ Spotlight on Disability – Main Report
- Active NZ Spotlight on Disability – Main Report Easy Read PDF for ease of access for the visually impaired
- Active NZ Spotlight on Disability – Key Findings as PDF
The Review Summary Report has been sent to Sport and Recreation Minister Grant Robertson, who will share it with Minister for Disability Issues Carmel Sepuloni. It is to inform the whole of the sector, while the recommendations are intended to guide the actions of Sport NZ as the lead agency.
A national strategy for Disability Active Recreation and Sport will be developed, along with Sport NZ’s response - scheduled to go to the Sport NZ board for discussion in April 2019.
I’d like to acknowledge and thank the project Steering Committee and Reference Group, and all those who contributed to the discussion over the past 12 months. We look forward to releasing a robust and comprehensive strategy in 2019. In the meantime please direct any queries to myself in the first instance.
