All Right Digest: August 2022
Kia ora Before we jump into the wonderful spring season, we wanted to take some time to reflect and appreciate winter.
It can be really tempting to bunker down when it's cold and stay cosy inside, but doing this can result in us missing out on the beautiful moments winter can give, like...
- Putting on gumboots and jumping in puddles (an activity often reserved for tamariki however still insanely fun as an adult!)
- Hearing the crunch as you walk on frosty grass
- Looking at your breath when the weather's chilly
- Getting outside after a big rain and smelling that fresh post-rain smell - do you know there's an English word to describe this smell? It's called 'petrichor.
So while it's easy to imagine yourself somewhere warm and sunny, there's joy to be found when we take a moment to appreciate those special moments winter can bring.
Today's edition focuses on something common to everyone (and it's not taxes). We're all impacted by death - whether it's the death of a loved one or our own departure, being equipped to talk about death and how to live with it is a skill that can help make tough times just a little bit easier.
Koia kei a koe Aotearoa (you got this!).
