Getting Through Together Digest: 28th January 2022
Kia ora and just like that, we’re heading to the end of January! We hope you managed to slow down and get some good stuff in over the break… like time with whānau, getting out in nature, enjoying a good book and having laughs with mates.
This week’s news that Omicron is circulating in our community has thrown many of us. It’s an uncertain and stressful time, with event cancellations, potential job losses and concerns over self-isolation and Omicron’s impact on the health of those we love.
The challenge we all have is finding ways to navigate this uncertainty and stress and find fun and joy every day.
As humans we are really good at focusing on what’s not going well and what’s giving us worries – how long can you go without Omicron coming up in a conversation?! Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to spend time thinking about the good stuff – the things that are going right for us and the things we enjoy.
In this edition, we share some of the Good Stuff that’s happening all over Aotearoa and give you three easy ways to give yourself a boost.

Not all right?
New challenges and the loss of our regular routines is causing stress for many of us. This can really erode our wellbeing over time. It’s important to remember to do the little things that help recharge us. It’s also important to know there is someone to talk to and free help available.
It’s all right to reach out if you need to - we all need a bit of support from time-to-time.
Call or text 1737 to speak with a trained counsellor anytime - it’s free and completely confidential. You can also call Lifeline on 0800 543354 or text HELP to 4357.
Check out the Mental Health Foundation’s website for further advice on how to stay mentally well during this time.
