March Feature Ride: Shabby Chic Market and picnic

Date: Sunday 7th March 2021.
Start Time: 10.30am.
Meeting Location: Beckenham Park (corner of Sandwich Rd and Eastern Tce).

The plan is to follow the Ōpāwaho/ Heathcote River trail to end up at the Shabby Chic market in Woolston, where you can fossick for some treasures. There is a café on site.

You’re cordially invited to a BYO pot luck picnic around 12.30pm - over the river in the community gardens at the big table in Radley Park. The gardens have been developed by the Roimata Food Commons.

Note: The Market will be operating at Alert Levels 1 and 2. Wear a mask for another layer of protection if you don't think you will be able to keep the 2m physical distancing. A prize of courgettes will be on offer for the best mask!

Peace Train Ride

Join this bike ride marking the 2019 mosque attacks.

Date: Sunday 11th April 2021.
Start Time: 1.30pm. Meet at 1pm.

Pannier Bags Made from Recycled Bouncy Castles

Shelley from ReCycle ReCreate has been making these super-sturdy pannier bags out of salvaged bouncy castles and other bits and pieces. She is also exploring making skirt guards from the same material. She has a range of colours - plain or patterned.

Volunteer needed to coordinate or lead the SOUTH Peace Train Ride

The job includes:

  • visiting faith based leaders and organisations;
  • designing a safe cycling route; and
  • providing general oversight on the day.
