New Global Plan for Physical Activity

The World Health Organisation's physical activity plan aims to help people around the world get out and active.

Health Minister Dr David Clark and Sport and Recreation Minister Grant Robertson welcome this plan from the WHO announced in Geneva last week.

#BeActive: Putting the Global Plan into Action

Did you wake up this morning wondering how you could get more people and populations more physically active?  If so, then you are reading the right article.

Manager of strategic projects at Sport NZ Kay Thomson shares her insightful blog with ANA.

Equity or Equality

This infographic from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation gives a visual representation of Equity versus Equality. This was posted on the 1st June and is the most viewed ANA facebook post for 2018.

Breastfeeding is a Public Health Issue

Dr Amy Brown explores psychological, cultural and societal barriers to breastfeeding in this one-hour webinar and provides ways we can change breastfeeding culture at a systems level. Dr Brown was in Australia as a guest speaker at the Australian Breastfeeding Association annual health professional seminars recently.

Water as First Choice

Healthy Families Waitakere has been working alongside 32 schools in West Auckland to implement water only policies and strengthen messaging around water within school environments.

Hutt City Council and Healthy Families Lower Hutt have taken action to make sure residents can ‘Go the H2O’ when out and about with new water fountains being installed across the Hutt.

National Cycling Awards

Finalists have been announed for the 2018 Bike to the Future Awards - New Zealand’s national cycling awards.

The awards celebrate the projects and people that are actively supporting and encouraging New Zealanders to move by bike as part of their everyday journeys.

Film For Change

Film for Change is a social enterprise that makes films for non-profits. They have collaborated with the Heart Foundation recently and created a call to action for schools working with the Heart Foundation to make a film about healthy changes they’ve made at their school.

First off the rank is from a Porirua school with a film on sugary drinks.

Does shivering count as exercise?
