SEWN Christchurch Newsletter: March 2017

Wednesday, March 01, 2017   Posted in: Newsletters By: Administrator With tags: newsletter, Community Groups

Welcome to the March / Poutū-te-Rangi 2017 Social Equity and Wellbeing Network (SEWN) newsletter.

Kia ora koutou

Our thoughts are with all who were directly affected by the recent fires on the edge of our city – in particular the family of helicopter pilot Steve Askin, and also all who have lost their homes or had their lives disrupted yet again.

Once more we see the magnificent strength and heart of our communities as they have rallied around to support our fellow citizens. But how much more can we take?

It’s not hard to find stories and statistics about the greatly increased demand for mental health services in Canterbury. From now until the election SEWN will be highlighting concerns in our sector that we’d like to see the candidates addressing. The mental health of Cantabrians must surely be at the top of the list.
