Two free upcoming training seminars for Not for Profits

Not for profit solutions.These two FREE seminars are provided by NFP Solutions - the Community Capacity Building arm of the Canterbury Community Business Trust.

Bookings are essential. Venues will be confirmed on registration.

Seminars are free to registered not for profits only. NFP Solutions will accept registrations for a koha from the following groups, and only if spaces are available:

  • non-charitable incorporated society;
  • school board of trustees; or
  • other community group.

Media Releases that Get Noticed

You will learn some of the secrets of influential communication and have to chance to practice 5 'influence essentials’. These are not only useful in writing media releases, but for any written or verbal communication that aims to persuade. You will also discover what journalists are looking for in a media release and practice the simple conventions that make it easier for your media release to stand out among the avalanche of material that pours into most journalist’s in-boxes.

This is a hands-on seminar run by Garth Nowland-Foreman, with the opportunity to practice the skills you will learn. It is especially tailored for charities, non-profit and community organisations.

Garth Nowland-Foreman has worked at helping non-profits be more effective and influential for more than 20 years. He developed and taught Influencing Public Policy and Social Change in a graduate programme for not for profit management, and is a partner of the new LEaD Centre for Not for Profit Leadership.

Managing Stress and Practicing Self-Care for Wellbeing

This seminar is run by Workplace Support and will cover:

  • understanding stress;
  • managing stress;
  • de-escalation skills;
  • self-care and wellbeing, including self-assessment and setting SMART goals; and
  • moving forward, including planning how to apply the content and closure by the Workplace Support team.
