All Right? Campaign update: February 2017
Far out Canterbury - it's FEBRUARY!
Hope you're doing all right and had some time to relax and refresh over the past few weeks.
We've had a lot of people tell us that they've been feeling really good - we think being able to enjoy the outdoors during these warm summer days may have something to do with it... read on!

The completely FREE and natural boost...
Lately we've been reading a lot about how nature impacts on mental health.
Apparently being in nature can “reduce cynicism, meaninglessness, anal retentiveness and murderous rage" - according to some amazing studies out there.
In a nutshell…
- What we see, hear and experience changes our mood.
- Being in nature reduces blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension and the production of stress hormones.
Find out more about the benefits of nature on the All Right? website - we've summed up all of our research for you.
Check out this video from Stanford University... gets you thinking, doesn't it?
Making the most of the new year...
While everyone else is bombarding us with the need to set goals and well-meaning suggestions of New Year's resolutions, our friends at the VIA Institute on Character really know how we tick.
VIA have nailed exactly how you can escape the hype and set yourself up for a great year ahead. We promise you won't feel the need to roll your eyes (not even once!).
A shout out to parents...
The school holidays are either at an end or getting very, very close to ending, and we wanted to give you a big high five for all your hard work!
Holidays are awesome opportunities to enjoy whānau time together but they're not without stress or mess.
We've done quite a bit of research into how parents in Canterbury are finding life. Two of the findings really stuck out...
- Many Canterbury parents feel out of their depth when it comes to dealing with tricky parenting situations.
- Most Canterbury parents feel like they're the only one that's struggling with parenting.
Interesting aye? We all think every other parent is so together yet we're all just finding our way as we go along.
And overall, we're doing a great job... so have faith in yourself and remember that the Mum or Dad over there who always seem to have everything perfect are probably not as in control as you think!
While parenting can be tough, there’s heaps of support out there.
Time to supercharge your kindness...
February can be a tough month for many in Canterbury - especially those close to the 185 people tragically lost in the 2011 earthquake.
Six years is also a long time to be living in a broken home, navigating road detours or living in a city that's not quite fully functioning. So please, take care and check in with those around you.
We're always keen to hear your stories, thoughts and ideas. Get in touch with All Right?
